Howdy folks! We are Roxanne & Kenny Baxter. We have dogs, cats, horses, chickens & ducks. We have slowly been creating our ranch. We do some gardening and raise chicken & ducks for eggs. I (Roxanne) run my horse training business, BCR Horsemanship LLC, from the ranch and then work as an assistant trainer and riding instructor at Rising Hope Stables.
Calypso, Roscoe & Valentine are our sweet dogs. They enjoy meeting the new horses, and watching what the cats and poultry flock are always doing in the yard.
Jewel and Sadie are our beautiful mares who spend their days grazing and pestering the client horses.
Jewel of Fire “Jewel” 2011 APHA Sorrel Overo Paint mare. Jewel is pleasure and halter bred. We purchased Jewel just after she turned 2. I trained her for Western and English equitation and pleasure and enjoyed some show time with her. When Jewel turned 9, she was diagnosed with Navicular Disease and shortly after we decided to retire her. She is a super smart horse and though I miss showing her, it makes me happy that she helps me with client horses. She is my true heart horse.
Sassy Driftin’ Jo “Sadie” 2014 AQHA Dun mare. Sadie is all cow bred and little crazy, but we still love her. I have put some training on Sadie, but I haven’t worked on seeing what discipline she’d like to do. So, she is now Jewel’s pasture mate who would rather push all the horses around and thinks her mean face can upset the neighbors cows, but not one will ever move away from the fence when she charges it.
We currently have 2 indoor cats named, Oliver and Smokey, and we have 13 outdoor cats named Chester, Charlie, Diva, Trixie, Meow, Diesel, Muffin, Bandit, Jetsy, Grease, Geegee, Turbo and Chewy. Chester and Charlie also enjoy spending time in the house. Chester recently went missing (we believe stolen) and we are devastated. Please pray for his safe return.
Last, but not least is our our fun and super cute flock consisting of 6 ducks and 5 chickens.
We laid our beautiful baby girl, Calypso Baxter to rest on Saturday August 12th, 2023 at the age of 12 years, 8 months old. She was such an amazing, sweet, funny and full of life puppy dog. She will always be with us as we walk this life, but we will forever miss her talking, thick wagging tail and bouncy attitude everyday. Cancer took over her body and God was then calling her home. It is not easy to go on without her physically here, but I do believe God let’s their Spirits visit us.
We laid our beautiful baby girl, Roscoe Baxter to rest on December 3rd, 2023. She was 12 years, 11 months old. Cancer also took her body. We know God has her with Calypso and our babies from previous years. We will miss her so much as well. Her happy hop everytime she saw us, her big smile and her wagging tail.
Three of our kitties also went to Heaven in 2024 as well; Chester, Charlie and Chewy. We miss those silly kitties so much. Chewy found us after the fire and never wanted to leave us. Chester and Charlie were born here on the ranch. Chester became Kenny’s best bud, always riding on his shoulders and talking away. Charlie became my barn buddy, always following me, hunting the birds and double checking I had cleaned the stalls right. They sure loved to cuddle when the mood would strike them.
